Rockport

Rockport, Texas, a little town with a population of about ten thousand, is well known for birding, sailing, and water sports, as well as for its museums and festivals. It is also nearly famous for its fantastic fishing.
The small community has everything you need, including local guides, charters and avid fishermen who are just waiting to provide you with tips on where to go to catch the fish of a lifetime.
Rockports climate is pleasant nearly all year round, with the temperatures staying close to 70-75 most of the time, and the local community relies quite heavily on the fishing industry, from shrimping boats to private charters.
They know what they’re doing, where to take you for the best bet of catching something spectacular and how to treat visitors to their town.
Fishing the bay means bringing home redfish, drums, speckled trout, flounder, and more, while the offshore fishing will net you a Hammerhead Shark, or maybe a tiger or Mako, as well as mackerel, Bluefin, Yellowfin or Tarpon, or something as incredible as a Marlin.
Winter fishing here is just as good as summer times and with so many different species, chances are that you’re going to catch something no matter what time of day or year it is.
The coves and Piers usually feature lighted cleaning tables, fuel stations and boat ramps, as well as information on a charter.
There are many bays that you can access from Rockport. This includes Aransas Bay, Copano Bay, South Bay, Redfish Bay, Lydia Ann Channel, Lighthouse Lakes, Estes Flats, Corpus Christi Bay, Mesquite Bay, and St. Charles Bay.

Captain Charlie Newton
Charles & BJ (Beverly) have been married for 30 years and moved to Rockport when they got married in 1978, they had their only daughter Chelcie in 1979. Charles had 2 more daughters by a previous marriage and altogether they have a total of 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Charles & BJ decided to move to Rock-port with just a desire to live in Rockport. They both love fishing and started "hanging out" at the harbor and were always fishing and bringing in lots of fish. One day Capt. Wayne Lindsey asked Charles to run his boat and take some people fishing, well that started it. "It" meaning Charles' desire to take people fishing. He worked and fished with Capt. Wayne until he knew the waters around Rockport like the back of his hand. In 1985 Redfish Charters opened for business and has been providing quality fishing trips ever since. "Capt. Charlie" (as he is affectionately known to most people), brings over 25 years experience as a full time fishing guide and boy does he have some stories to tell. He's one remarkable man with a humor that is simply delightful and contagious.
